Week One
For my lifestyle project I chose to leave my car at home, lower my electricity/water consumption, and the food project. Leaving my car at home wasn't very hard at all, when I did need to go somewhere I waited till my friends needed to go also so we could carpool. For the electricity and energy consumption I realized how often I take the elevator (which is everyday after practice) that i was wasting a lot of energy just because I was being lazy and tired from practice so I made that my main focus but not just on my specific days I have stopped taking it on most of the days of the week. I have also started using the light from the window instead of electrical lighting. I had a hard time adjusting my diet to a vegetarian one, the first day wasn't that bad because the commons didn't serve very good food anyways, the second day I failed it was Sunday brunch and I couldn't help but have some sausage, but I only had two links. I have also tried to reduce the amount of food I don't eat and throw away, this was another aspect of the project that i have taken to apply to everyday and so far I have not been wasting nearly half the food I was before I get smaller portions and don't get more unless I know that it won't be going to waste. So far I am enjoying this project it is hard but it is also helping me realize my impact of the rest of the world.
