Revive the Hillside

I have chosen to commit myself to a project in the garden on campus. Among others, one of the projects being started among the garden clubbers is to clean up the hill next to the greenhouse. It has been taken over by sweet potatoes. The plan is to use the area to create individual plots and of course produce more edible plants. I will be terracing afew sections of the hill to provide a guideline for future terracing. I have already come up with several ideas using different materials to build the terraces.
I guess I began to help with the effort Saturday before last when we pulled out tons of vines, grass, and weeds. I went out again on Tuesday to continue weeding the hill. I got quite a bit done for the time that I was there but there is a lot more to go. Also, I am used to wearing sandals in my own garden and didn't think anything of it, but on the hill, I found that I was in ant territory. After finding 6 or 7 ant beds, and enduring quite afew bites, I gave up for the day. I will be back out there again tomorrow ( with a little more protection for my feet of course).
